Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946, into a poor family with 12 kids eventually included, discovered early that she could get away from the hardships of her life by using a imaginative mind. Her songs were written before she was able to write or read. Once she had her first guitar at age of 8, she began to play on local radio stations from Knoxville, Tennessee. The first album she recorded was during the same year with Gold Band Records, a tiny independent label. Although she was in school, she had already established herself in the local music scene. However, her goal was to to make music on a greater level. She relocated to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV at the time was searching for a girl to sing for his program. Parton got her first gig in 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry. Then, in 1974, she left Wagoner's Show because the success of her singles like Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums. The song by Parton, I Will Never Love You (for Wagoner), reached the number. number 1 position after the duo split. The first time it reached No. 1 was 1974.
