Taylor Alison Swift, born December 13, 1989 is an American singer and songwriter. Her discography spans multiple genres. Her songwriting - often in the form of personal reflections--has been praised by critics and received extensive media attention. Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania and moved to Nashville at the age of 14 years old. In 2004 Swift signed a songwriting arrangement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. She also signed a recording agreement with Big Machine Records. Her self-titled debut album in 2006 made Swift the first female country artist to release an album that was U.S.-certified platinum. Swift's next album, Fearless (2008) was focused on country pop. Speak Now (2010) was her third album. The songs "Love Story" and "You Belong to me" from the former were the first to be top of the U.S. all-genre and pop charts. She tried out electronic and rock styles on Red (2012), which featured the debut Billboard Hot 100 number-one song, "We Are Never Ever Reuniting Together", and eschewed her traditional image on her synth-pop album 1989 (2014), supported by chart-topping songs "Shake It Off", "Blank Space", and "Bad Blood". Reputation (2017) featuring the number one single "Look what you made me do" was influenced by media attention. After leaving Big Machine, Swift signed with Republic Records in 2018 and released her seventh studio album, Lover (2019), followed by the autobiographical documentary Miss Americana (2020). Swift's albums for 2020 Folklore (2019) and Evermore (2020) were her first forays into indie and alternative rock. "Cardigan" was an album that ranked in the top ten, and "Willow" was an album that ranked in the Top 100. Swift started recording her earlier six albums following a dispute with their masters. Two albums were reissued in 2021--Fearless(Taylor’s version) and Red (Taylor’s version). "All Too Well (10 Min Version)" from the latter was the longest track to hit the Hot 100. Her 2022 album Midnights along with its single "Anti-Hero" have set new all-time streaming music records. Swift has directed music videos and movies which include All Too Well: the Short Film (2021) and All Too Well: the Short Film (2021), as well as playing as a supporting role in a variety of other. Swift is one of history's most popular artists, selling over 200,000,000 records around the world. Swift is the most streamed female artist on Spotify and is the only artist to have five albums with over 1 million copies sold in the US. Twelve Grammy Awards including three Album of the Year nominations; an Emmy Award, 40 American Music Awards; 29 Billboard Music Awards. 92 Guinness World Records are just among her numerous accolades. Swift, who was named Artist of the Decade and Woman of the Decade for her advocacy of artists' rights and women empowerment, was honored with a variety of awards.
